Christine M. Burt – Of Counsel. Christine was born and raised in Hales Corners, Wisconsin. After graduating from Whitnall High School in 2002, Christine enrolled at the University of Wisconsin and in 2008 graduated with honors with a Bachelor of Political Science.
That same year, Christine enrolled at Valparaiso University School of Law to start her legal education. Christine was very active in Law School groups, being the President of the Women’s Law Student Association (WLSA) which focused on women’s issues and gender law and receiving the law school’s very first Student Organization of the Year award for her work with WLSA in 2010. In 2011, Christine graduated with a Juris Doctor Degree from Valparaiso University School of Law.
Christine’s practicing legal experience started when she was chosen as one of the first Legal Externs with the In-House Counsel for the City of Chicago, where she developed her taste for municipal law and defense of Government in litigation. Christine assisted in piloting this program as she reached out to the Chicago Parks District for the opportunity and it started an externship program that still is in place today. Additionally, Christine was chosen as a Law Clerk for Allen Law Offices where she sharpened her skills in criminal law and personal injury litigation. Christine also did a State internship with the Honorable Judge William Alexa, Porter County Prosecutors Office, Child Support Division, and Porter County Prosecutors Office. Post Law School, Christine went on to become a Deputy Prosecuting Attorney for Porter County where she focused on prosecuting child support IV-D and felony non-support cases. Christine went on to work as a family law litigator for two prominent firms in Valparaiso Indiana where she gained notoriety for her success in contested adoption cases.
In 2014, Christine direct-commissioned into the Indiana Army National Guard as a Judge Advocate, after basic training and military law training, she was released back to the State as the Chief of Contract and Fiscal Law for the 38th Infantry Division. She has since been assigned as the International Law Officer for 38th Infantry Division, the Operation Law Judge Advocate for the 38th Sustainment Brigade, and Command Judge Advocate for Camp Atterbury Installation Training Center.
Presently, Christine is the full-time Attorney-Advisor to the Command staff of Camp Atterbury and Muscatatuck. In her role as a traditional guardsmen she serves as a Judge Advocate and Trial Counsel for the 76th Infantry Brigade Combat Team. Her dedication to Servicemembers and their families is unmatched by most in the legal profession.
Christine is married and has a young son. They live in Franklin, Indiana. Christine and her family are very active and her son is engaged in many sports and Christine and her husband prioritize their physical fitness to maintain good mental and physical health.
